Panto a hit in Hunstanton

_WHEN West Norfolk Borough Council decreed that the Princess Theatre should be robbed of its pantomime it certainly brought out the community spirit in the good people of Hunstanton.

Last year the “Festival Players” responded by putting on “Robin Hood – Norfolk Style” and they repeated that success this year with “The Magical Puss in Boots” written, directed and starring West Norfolk’s favourite pantomime dame, John Giller.

Once again community involvement was evident, with actors and backstage staff including local talent of all ages.
Emily Darby, aged 15, put in a thoroughly professional performance as Puss, while at the other end of the age spectrum technical directors, David Jones and Brian Holmes, ensured that the music and lighting was spot on.
As John Giller wrote in his programme notes: “Not only have we got a great cast of actors, our stage team are amazing. It’s like working with a West End production company.”
Another ‘west-end’ experience came with the ultraviolet light used to really good effect in the dance routine choreographed by Deanne Pritchard to accompany “Puss” singing: “These boots are made for walking!”
Having praised Puss and the Dame, it has to be said that the acting and singing of the rest of the cast was also of an equally high standard. Musical director Simon Bower made a good choice of sing-along and clap-along music.
Kate Dunbar, Jean Chamberlain and Sue Murkett did wonders with the scenery, costumes and make-up.
And at the end of every show, each child left with a goody bag donated by Pavillion Toymaster. In the words of the Dame: “You don’t get that in King’s Lynn, now do you?”

Here are some photos of the performance.  Click any photo to take a closer look . . .
Thanks to Kate and James Dunbar for the fantastic photos.

Here's what the audience thought . . .

Puss in Boots was the best pantomime I've seen for a long time, very professional and fantastic fun.  Thank you so much to all involved, my kids and I had a great time.  See you next year.
