How does the 1 Day Play work?
John Giller, Principal Director of JGDATA works with your school for the whole day, starting with an assembly at 9.00am, explaining the theme and the running of the day.
The day is then split into workshops (based on the school day, with breaks and lunches at normal times with each workshop needing a minimum of 30 minutes.) In this way every child in the school will be involved.
N.B. John Giller will leave your school at 2.30pm, so the last workshop needs to start at 2.00pm to run for the minimum 30 minutes.

What do you get?
The best way to enjoy the 1 Day Play provision is with the whole school. You get, John Giller (a fully qualified teacher and actor from 9.00am - 2.30pm), all scripts, some costume and props which John uses during the day, free downloads from JGDATA masks for pupils to create and use, music and sound equipment to use in the workshops. (If your school hall has a sound system that plays CD or MP3 then that can be used instead - please advise us when you book.)
What does it cost?
This is how the 1 Day Play works?
(Based on Primary - both Key Stages) Introduction (Whole School) Approx 30 minutes The story is told and the day is explained. (N.B. PowerPoint visuals for this story are available, however the School needs to provide a laptop and projector for this.) Workshop 1 (Yr 1 and 2) Minimum 30 minutes Focus: Scene 4 (The Masked Ball) Students are introduced to the characters from the scene, using a small amount of the script (no acting) They then learn an Elizabethan Dance to Elizabethan music. Masks may be downloaded to decorate and use for this workshop, or as an extension lesson back in class with the class teacher. CLICK HERE for Masks. Workshop 2 (Yr 3 and 4) Minimum 30 minutes Focus: Scene 4 (The Masked Ball) Students are introduced to the characters from the scene, using shakespeare's script to stage the scene and to play the parts of the actors. If the workshop runs for longer than 30 minutes then students will also learn an Elizabethan Dance. Masks may be downloaded to decorate and use for this workshop, or as an extension lesson back in class with the class teacher. CLICK HERE for Masks. Workshop 3 (Yr 5 and 6) Minimum 30 minutes Focus: Scene 1 (Street Fight) Students are introduced to the characters from the scene, using Shakespeare's original script to stage the scene and act as the characters. They will also learn some stage combat techniques. Breaks and Lunch are at normal school times. Workshops are designed for up to 30 students, with support from the class teacher or teaching assistant. |
